What Is Satta King? Meaning, Games and How Results Work
Satta King is a common label for a set of daily number games from Delhi-NCR and nearby states. Gali, Desawar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are the names most people know. Each game puts out one result between 00 and 99, once a day, at its own fixed time. This guide covers what the name means, where the games came from, how a result works and, in brief, what the law says.
This page is the hub of our basics section. Three other main guides go further: how results are declared, how to read a record chart and the law in India. You can also read this page in Hindi: Satta King kya hai.
What does "Satta King" mean?
Today "Satta King" is an umbrella term. It covers these North Indian number games and the charts that record their results, not one single game. A person searching for "the result" usually wants the Gali, Desawar, Faridabad or Ghaziabad number.
The words behind it are old. Platts' Hindi-Urdu dictionary of 1884 gives सट्टा (satta) the sense of a trade deal, contract or bargain. The meaning of speculation and betting came later, out of that market vocabulary. मटका (matka) just means a big clay pot.
Many result websites claim "Satta King" was first the title of whoever won the day's top prize, and that the title later passed to the games. We could not find any record that backs this up. In the news, "King" is usually attached to the person running the racket, not to a winner. Ratan Khatri was known as Bombay's "Matka King". In 2025 The Tribune used the label "Satta King" of Delhi for a man arrested at Amritsar airport.
So the honest answer is that nobody has documented how the name started. What we can say is that it is now used for the whole family of games and their charts. To learn what the two biggest game names mean, see what Gali and Desawar mean (in Hindi: गली दिसावर क्या है).
Where did these games come from?
They are usually traced back to Satta Matka, which grew up in Bombay (now Mumbai) in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The Delhi-NCR games appeared later, and nobody has recorded exactly when or how they began.
Cotton rates and the first matka
DNA and Business Today report that betting in Bombay first followed cotton prices. The opening and closing figures came from New York to the Bombay Cotton Exchange by teleprinter. That feed reportedly stopped around 1961, so bookies had to find their numbers some other way.
Two men are linked to what came next. According to PTI and Wikipedia, Kalyanji Bhagat, a trader in Worli, launched Worli Matka in 1962. Ratan Khatri had arrived in Bombay from Karachi as a teenager during Partition. He first worked alongside Bhagat and later set up a game of his own, which reports date to either 1962 or 1964.
At first, numbers were reportedly written on paper slips, dropped into a matka and pulled out by hand. Playing cards replaced the slips later, yet the pot gave the game its lasting name.
Boom, crackdown and spread
In the 1960s and 1970s matka became popular with workers in Bombay's textile mills. According to DNA, police action from 1995 onwards badly damaged the trade and pushed many bookies out of the city. PTI reported that Khatri died in Mumbai in May 2020, at the age of 88.
North India ended up with a simpler format: a single two-digit result for each game, each day. There is no record of when, where or by whom Gali or Desawar was started. NPG News, a Hindi news website, points out that no official history exists because the activity is illegal.
For that reason we do not repeat the origin legends that circulate on other sites. Our full history and timeline sets out the dates that can be sourced. How Satta Matka and the Delhi games differ compares the two formats.
Which games are in the family?
Six games are the best known: Desawar, Gali, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Delhi Bazar and Shree Ganesh. Many smaller games run next to them, and 19 games are running today.
- Desawar (Disawar, Dishawar, दिसावर) comes out early in the morning, around 05:15 AM. Because it arrives after midnight, it is counted under the new date, not the night before.
- Gali (गली) is the last major result of the day, around 11:55 PM. In Hindi the word means a lane or narrow street.
- Faridabad (Faridabaad) shares its name with the Haryana city. Its result is due around 06:00 PM.
- Ghaziabad (Gaziabad, गाज़ियाबाद) shares its name with the Uttar Pradesh city. Its result is due around 08:50 PM.
- Delhi Bazar is an afternoon game, with its result around 03:30 PM.
- Shree Ganesh also comes in the afternoon, around 04:40 PM.
A city name does not mean that city, or any government, runs the game. The names are only labels. Our guide to game names goes through them one by one.
Every running game is listed in the order its result arrives on the Satta King result time table. Times can move by a few minutes on some days, and the time table always shows the current schedule.
You may also come across names like "Black Satta King" or "Satta King 786". Those are website names, not separate games. The guide on 786, black and "fast" site names explains the difference.
How is a result declared?
Each game announces a single two-digit number between 00 and 99, once a day at its set time (IST). That number is the game's result for the day, and many people call it the jodi.
A few points help when you read results:
- One result per game per day. The same game has no second draw on the same date.
- Filed under the date it is declared. Desawar arrives in the early morning, so it belongs to that new date.
- Some days have no result. When a game is closed or does not declare, our charts show XX. A -- means not declared yet, or no data.
- WAIT on the live board means the result time is due or over, but the number has not arrived yet.
Each day's number stands on its own. Yesterday's result does not make any number more or less likely today. That is why we explain why charts cannot predict results.
Where can you see today's result, old results and record charts?
You can see all of them free on this site. Pages refresh on their own about every minute, and each result goes into the charts once it is declared.
- Today's results on the home page, for every running game.
- Satta King chart 2026, the record chart (रिकॉर्ड चार्ट) of all games for this year.
- Old results, with charts from 2021 for 57 games.
Each game also has its own chart for every year, linked from that game's page. In a yearly chart the rows are days 1 to 31 and the columns are months. The glossary of chart terms explains words such as jodi and XX.
Our results and charts are independent of every game and its operators. Results are added only after they are public, and we check them again every night for corrections.
Is Satta King legal in India?
No. Almost everywhere in India, betting on these games is treated as illegal gambling. Simply reading or recording a result is a separate question, and the law on that is less clear.
Under the Constitution, betting and gambling are on the State List, so each state writes its own law. Delhi's Public Gambling Act, 1955 covers gaming on "figures or numbers" that are disclosed later, which fits these games closely. Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and other states have laws of their own. Since 1 July 2024, section 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has also made unauthorised betting by someone in a gang or group an offence.
Online money games are now banned nationwide. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 took effect on 1 May 2026. It forbids offering or advertising such games and stops payments for them. Our law guide gives the full state-by-state picture. This is general information, not legal advice.
What scams should you watch out for?
The most common one is the seller of so-called "leak" or "fix" numbers. Nobody can sell a real result before it is declared, and anyone asking for money up front is cheating you.
These sellers mostly use WhatsApp, Telegram or YouTube. They ask for a "booking" or "membership" fee over UPI, post fake winning screenshots, and then demand more money or block you. In 2025, Siasat reported that Hyderabad police arrested a gang charging a registration fee for number "predictions". Fake betting apps are another trap: money goes in, but withdrawals get blocked.
If a scammer has taken your money, call the national cyber fraud helpline 1930 quickly or report it at cybercrime.gov.in. Read how leak and fix number scams work for the warning signs. What does this website do, and what does it not do?
This website, gali-results.com, is an archive of results. We show each game's declared number and store it in record charts so readers can look things up.
We do not accept bets, sell numbers, or give tips or predictions. Our results, charts and guides are independent of any khaiwal, app or operator. Boxes marked "Sponsored" are third-party ads; we do not check or endorse them. Charts show what has already happened, and they cannot point to a future number.
